Girls In Action

Girls in Action, or GA has been a tradition in Southern Baptist churches since 1913.

The GA organization is for girls in grades 1 - 6. It's a wonderful way to open up the world to young girls. GA members are actively involved in learning about missions, praying for and giving to missions, actually doing missions themselves, and having fun along the way.

GA's and their leaders work together to plan and carry out ministry projects in their community. Through hands-on experiences in meeting the needs of others, girls learn that what they do personally is just as important as the missions work their money and prayers support.

Parents, too, play an important role in GA by encouraging their daughters in their GA activities and serving as volunteers when GA leaders need extra help.

Each bi-monthly meeting has a missions focus, but GA's have other opportunities to lean about missions as well. Here at Locust Grove Missionary Baptist Church, our activities include:

Making tray favors for Meals on Wheels
Making favors for our church's senior citizen meals
Volunteering to ring the bell for the Salvation Army's Christmas collection
Taking gifts we have made to nursing homes
Christmas caroling to homebound
Most anything that we feel called to help with

GA is an opportunity for girls to begin to develop a mission's lifestyle as they discover their place in God's plan. They learn to see the world through God's eyes and recognize that He loves all people everywhere, no matter where they live.
