Royal Ambassadors (R.A.s) is a awesome club for boys in grade 1 through grade 6. We meet twice a month to learn about missions in creative and exciting ways. R.A.s is sort of a cross between boy scouts and bible school. Welcome
to the What is
Royal Ambassadors? Royal Ambassadors (RA’s) is a Southern Baptist mission education organization for boys in grades 1-6. It seeks to build biblical character in boys through mission involvement and virtue commitments. Since it’s beginning in 1908, Royal Ambassador church-based ministries have helped boys to grow spiritually, physically, mentally, and in relationships with others. The basic purpose of Royal Ambassadors is found in the Royal Ambassador Pledge. To build the Christian character needed
to keep the promises of the RA Pledge, RA’s learn biblical
virtues such as Loyalty, Friendship, Courage, Responsibility,
Honesty, Faith, Compassion, Perseverance, Teamwork, and
Self-Discipline. They
also learn about God’s mission, participate in on-mission
activities, pray for and give to missions, develop and use
mission skills, and learn about and support the mission work
of the church and association. The Locust
Grove Royal Ambassador Chapters meet twice a month to learn
about missions in creative and exciting ways.
Our meetings are typically the 2nd and 4th Wednesday
night of each month, 6:30 – 8:30pm. Membership is accomplished by memorization of the RA Motto and RA Pledge. RA’s
learn and grow. Once an
official member, each boy will receive a workbook
corresponding to their grade in school. These are known as PERSONAL
GROWTH PLAN (PGP)
books. Completion
of projects and commitments in the workbook earns specific
points for the student. Points collect to earn patches and pins to proudly display on
his RA Vest. Most
PGP work is done at home. RA’s
participate in mission projects. Among many
things, we have raised money for the Southern Baptist World
Hunger Fund, hosted meals for traveling foreign students and
missionaries, and supported our church in its annual Brazil
Mission trip. RA’s
have fun. The RA Race
car derby is always a highlight of the year, as boys build
their own wooden cars to race down our two-lane drag strip.
In the spring we attend the state RA Congress, a
meeting and competition with other RA’s from all over
Western North Carolina. Hikes,
campouts and other outdoor activities are also scheduled from
time to time. To learn more about the RA program at Locust
